Questions people actually ask
How long does a composite deck last?
A properly framed composite deck gives you more than 30 years of service. The composite boards themselves resist rot, mold, fading and splintering and never need painting or staining. The framing underneath is what determines whether you reach that number, which is why we inspect and price framing honestly instead of resurfacing over rot.
Is composite decking cheaper than wood?
Composite costs more up front and less over its life. Pressure treated wood needs cleaning, sanding and resealing roughly every two years, and most wood decks in coastal Virginia are replaced inside 15 years. A composite deck installed once at a higher price and never refinished usually wins on total cost somewhere around year eight.
Can you build over my existing deck frame?
Often yes. If the joists, ledger and footings are sound we can resurface, which is what the 15% discount applies to. If the framing has rot or the joist spacing will not carry composite, we tell you before you sign, not after demolition starts.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. Deck permits and inspection requirements vary by locality across Hampton Roads and Richmond, and we pull and manage them as part of the job.
